Starter Kendall Graveman demoted to Triple-A Nashville Rookie Kendall Graveman, who couldn’t quite get on track after a superb spring training, will have to work out his issues at Triple-A Nashville after being demoted on Sunday, and Jesse Chavez took his spot in Oakland’s rotation. Graveman, 24, was pitching at Class-A this time last year and had a rapid rise through Toronto’s system before being dealt to Oakland in the Josh Donaldson trade. Graveman said he might have been putting too much pressure on himself, rushing and throwing off his delivery — he didn’t have the same sink on his fastball he was getting during the spring. Graveman had a 0.66 ERA during the spring, best in the majors, and, manager Bob Melvin said, We expect him back. Reliever Ryan Cook, an All-Star with Oakland in 2012, was recalled and Melvin said he’s pegged potentially for seventh-inning duty, at least initially. Cook was 2-0 with five scoreless appearances for Nashville, and opponents were batting .059 against him. Effective as a starter in the first half of 2014, Chavez was terrific in a spot start for last week, allowing the Angels just one hit (a two-run homer by Kole Calhoun) in six innings. Hahn missed his last start with a blister, but threw a bullpen session and the A’s will evaluate how well he came through that on Monday before deciding where to slot him back into the rotation. Sonny Gray is firmly in place as Tuesday’s starter and Wednesday usually would be Hahn’s spot, but the A’s always could just slot Chavez into that spot and move Hahn back, perhaps even slot him in so that Scott Kazmir misses the Angels again. Susan Slusser is a San Francisco Chronicle staff writer. The A’s signed utility player Ryan Roberts and assigned him to Triple-A Nashville, which has lost Tyler Ladendorf to an ankle injury and Max Muncy to a call-up.
