The Sugar Land Legacy Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to improving the quality of life in Sugar Land, launched a campaign to raise the capital needed and received donations from over a dozen organizations, as well as numerous Sugar Land residents. The First Colony Dream League, which consists of about 100 children with intellectual and physical challenges who play baseball, also celebrated the unveiling. An additional benefit to having public access to disabled children will be for children without disabilities to interact with their peers, said City Manager Allen Bogard.
