Sullivan County's Insurance Costs Increasing $1.5m

BLOUNTVILLE — Sullivan County will need to come up with an extra $1.5 million in 2015 — at least on paper — to cover the increased cost of health care insurance for the county's employees and their families.Just where that $1.5 million will come from, and how the burden will be split between employees and taxpayers, has yet to be publicly discussed.The county's health insurance plan for its employees is self-funded.The Sullivan County Commission voted Friday to OK a switch in the third party administrator for the plan year beginning Jan.
