Luis and Vanessa Gudino didn't plan to go to the beach Oct. 14.The Simi Valley couple had traveled to Ventura that Tuesday morning to take care of some business. But after finishing early and finding themselves with time on their hands, they decided to swing by Surfers Point. Little did they know the spontaneous decision would save a life.As the Gudinos blissfully snapped photos of themselves at the waterfront, a disturbing sight caught their eye: A man with a blank stare wading through the waves toward shore with his surfboard.
