Survey: Pikes Peak Region Has Opportunities To Grow Tourism Industry

The Pikes Peak region needs better air service and public transportation, more meeting space and sports facilities and additional advertising to support the growth of the tourism industry during the next five to 10 years, according to a recent survey by the Destination Marketing Association International. While the region ranks about average compared with 57 other cities in 10 countries surveyed by the Vancouver, Canada-based trade group for convention and visitor bureaus, transportation, facilities and advertising stand out as the best opportunities to expand how long visitors stay and how much they spend, said Paul Ouimet, the association's managing director.
