Kindle Fire

With the rumblings from Amazon about the early success of its new Kindle Fire over the holiday season, the company’s disappointing fourth quarter results came as a surprise. More surprising was Amazon’s silence regarding total Kindle Fire sales for the quarter. During the earnings call, Amazon’s executive team deferred questions about the device to the press release, which simply regurgitated sales data from December.

Senh: I've always wondered why the company refuse to separate the sales figures for each Kindle device. It's obvious that they have something to hide regarding the Kindle Fire. As a public company, aren't they required to published these figures for their stockholders?

Shoppers seem to be just as enthusiastic about shopping on their computers and smartphones on Cyber Monday as they were about finding deals over the weekend. Online sales on Cyber Monday, which was started in 2005 by a retail trade group to encourage Americans to shop online on the Monday after Thanksgiving, were up mid-afternoon by 15 percent from a year ago, according to data from IBM Benchmark. Meanwhile, sales from mobile devices were up 7.4 percent. The group did not give dollar amounts.

Amazon's tablet may be hottest holiday gadget

The Kindle Fire tablet may be the hottest selling gadget this holiday, pressuring Amazon.com Inc's profit margins but giving the world's largest Internet retailer potentially millions of new high-spending customers.

Senh: The Kindle Fire price of $199 is hard to beat, that's less than half of other tablets on the market. It runs Android which has hundreds of thousands of mobile apps and thousands of tablet apps. The 7" form factor is a good alternative to 10" tablets.
