Georgia Bank Is Closed in Year's 88th Failure

Regulators closed Community Bank of Rockmart, Ga., on Thursday, raising the nationwide count of bank failures to 88 for the year.

 

Regulators Close Georgia, Florida Banks

The FDIC said two banks failed, McIntosh State Bank in Georgia and First Commercial Bank of Tampa Bay in Florida, to bring the tally of closures so far this year to 47.

 

Four More Banks Fail

Regulators on Friday shut down four more banks, boosting the number of failures this year to 29 -- more bank closures than in all of last year.

The latest banks seized were American Southern Bank in Georgia, Michigan Heritage Bank, First Bank of Idaho, and First Bank of Beverly Hills in California.
