Cyanide killed $1M lottery winner, authorities confirm

Medical examiners in Chicago have confirmed that cyanide poisoning killed a man just as he was about to collect on a $1 million instant lottery ticket. Additional tests on the blood of the man, Urooj Khan, confirmed the earlier finding, Cook County Medical Examiner Dr. Stephen Cina told reporters Friday. He said that coronary artery disease was a contributing factor.

Powerball fever is raising hopes -and the size - of tonight's jackpot again. It's now at least $550 million. Wednesday morning the Multi-State Lottery Association increased $50 million to the jackpot, up from $500 million. It stood at $325 million Saturday and rose to $425 Sunday as hopefuls snapping up $2 tickets at a rate of more than 130,000 a minute.

The Powerball jackpot has grown to $305 million for Wednesday's drawing. The prize grew after no one matched all six numbers in the multi-state lottery drawing Saturday night. The winning numbers were: 4, 13, 39, 46 and 51. The Powerball was 1.
