Craig, Bardem star in new Bond thriller 'Skyfall'

Ah, Mr. Bond, we've been waiting for you - and at last 007 is back, several years after his last screen adventure. Producers announced Thursday that filming has begun on "Skyfall," the delayed 23rd film in the series and Daniel Craig's third outing as the suave British superspy. Craig, who has brought a hard edge to his portrayal, told reporters that the movie, directed by Sam Mendes and shot in London, Scotland, Turkey and China, would be "Bond with a capital B."

Senh: That took a while, but it's good to see Daniel Craig back. With all that downtime, the franchise might have lost some of its momentum. "Quantum of Solace" made $586M worldwide.

'Monster' director Jenkins takes on 'Thor 2'

'Monster' director Jenkins takes on 'Thor 2'

Hollywood has signed up its first female director for a major superhero movie. Marvel Studios announced Thursday that Patty Jenkins will direct "Thor 2," the sequel to last summer's hit that is due in theaters Nov. 15, 2013.

Senh: Studios are continuing the trend of letting indie directors take the helm on comic book movies. It's been working out pretty well. The films tend to be well-reviewed. I guess the nice thing with indie directors is that they tend to bring in good actors, and they focus on the story and the characters rather than the spectacle.

Spielberg's Tintin gets seal of approval

Spielberg's Tintin gets seal of approval

Thundering typhoons! Steven Spielberg has won the seal of approval of Tintin's native land—and that's no mean feat. In Tintin's home city, movie journalists got a sneak preview of "The Adventures of Tintin—The Secret of the Unicorn" this week, and knives were sharpened in case it turned out that some Hollywood mogul had barged in and desecrated perhaps Europe's greatest cartoon character ever.

Senh: That's good to hear. I'm looking forward to what two of our greatest living directors can bring us in a collaboration. I wasn't impressed by the teasers for "Tintin," but the full trailer has Steven Spielberg's stamp all over it. Should be a lot of fun.

The Lone Ranger's Back In The Saddle

Back in August, it looked like Disney’s big plan to make a film version of The Lone Ranger with Johnny Depp, Armie Hammer and director Gore Verbinski might never happen, since the studio had balked at the project’s hefty cost. Now, after a few weeks of talks and money bargaining, Deadline reports that the Ranger is back in the saddle with a reduced budget.
