The workers were removed in favor of cheaper and faster electronic transponders, and a camera system that photographs every license plate that comes through, mailing an invoice to each motorist who doesn't prepay.

Bruce Lee to Fight Gangsters in 'Birth of the Dragon'

A new Bruce Lee movie, titled Birth of the Dragon, is in the works, and this one is said be inspired by the duel between Lee and martial arts instructor Wong Jack Man in San Francisco, according to The Hollywood Reporter. According to some accounts, this fight lasted only a couple of minutes with Lee laying the smack down on Wong. Wong disputed this however.

 

Texas Gov. Rick Perry set to poach Calif. jobs

Look out, California. Rick Perry is going hunting in your backyard for jobs to bring back to Texas. The Republican governor heads to San Francisco, the Silicon Valley, Los Angeles and Orange County next week on a "business recruitment trip," his office says. The trip is being paid for by Texas One, a public-private partnership that does marketing for the state.

 

San Francisco police search for man accused of setting girlfriend on fire at laundromat

San Francisco police are looking for a man suspected of throwing a flammable liquid at his girlfriend and setting her on fire. Officer Carlos Manfredi says witnesses in the city's Bayview District reported hearing the woman screaming on Sunday. She was taken to a hospital burn unit.

 

San Francisco plan to ban nudity

San Francisco lawmakers are set to vote on whether to ban nudity in public places, in an escalating fight against a group of nudists. The proposal would make it illegal for anyone over five to "expose his or her genitals, perineum or anal region" in most public locations. Exceptions would be made for certain street fairs and events.

Space shuttle Endeavour takes to California skies

Space shuttle Endeavour landed safely at the Los Angeles International Airport Friday after a whirlwind aerial tour around California landmarks. Strapped to the back of a 747 jumbo jet, the pair touched down around 1 p.m. after a nearly five-hour flyover. One of the crew members stuck an American flag out of the hatch of the jet. The flyover took Endeavour over the state Capitol, Golden Gate Bridge, Hollywood Sign and other icons en route to the Los Angeles airport, where the shuttle will be prepped for a slow-speed journey to its museum home next month.
