Look out, California. Rick Perry is going hunting in your backyard for jobs to bring back to Texas. The Republican governor heads to San Francisco, the Silicon Valley, Los Angeles and Orange County next week on a "business recruitment trip," his office says. The trip is being paid for by Texas One, a public-private partnership that does marketing for the state.

Space shuttle Endeavour landed safely at the Los Angeles International Airport Friday after a whirlwind aerial tour around California landmarks. Strapped to the back of a 747 jumbo jet, the pair touched down around 1 p.m. after a nearly five-hour flyover. One of the crew members stuck an American flag out of the hatch of the jet. The flyover took Endeavour over the state Capitol, Golden Gate Bridge, Hollywood Sign and other icons en route to the Los Angeles airport, where the shuttle will be prepped for a slow-speed journey to its museum home next month.

More electric cars are making their way across the country

Electric cars will become fairly commonplace in the not-too-distant future, especially in major cities that are equipped to charge these vehicles in parking lots and at home. About 3.2 million plug-in electric cars will be sold by 2015, with sales largely concentrated in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, and Chicago, according to auto industry analysts at Pike Research.

 

Home prices falling faster in most metro areas

Prices in San Francisco and Los Angeles, which had been increasing, both fell in August from July. Home prices are falling faster in the nation's largest cities, and a record number of foreclosures are expected to push prices down further through next year.
