Mark Sanford: Stephen Colbert isn't my opponent

Former South Carolina governor Mark Sanford vowed Wednesday to define Democratic rival Elizabeth Colbert Busch, saying the only thing voters know is that she's the sister of comedian Stephen Colbert. "She's not held office," Sanford said in an MSNBC interview. "Stephen Colbert's a very popular, you know, well-regarded comedian but at the end of the day he's not on the ticket."

Former South Carolina governor Mark Sanford reportedly asked his ex-wife to manage his campaign for Congress, just as she had when he first ran for the U.S. House in 1994 during happier times. In a New York magazine story, the disgraced Republican who tearfully admitted on national TV that he had an extramarital affair not only went to Jenny Sanford asking for her blessing to re-enter politics, he also had a proposal to join forces again.

South Carolina Governer Nikki Haley announced Friday that, “This is not a good day for South Carolina.” The bad news was having to admit a massive security breach in the State’s Department of Revenue that resulted in the theft of 3.6 million social security numbers and 387,000 credit/debit card numbers (only 16,000 of which, it is believed, were unencrypted,) This incident affects more than three-quarters of South Carolina’s 4.6 million population.
