Man who escaped from NJ prison 41 years ago is captured in Portugal

A fugitive's 41-year run from the law, which started with the murder of a World War II veteran from New Jersey, has come to an end. The FBI, United States Marshals Service and New Jersey Department of Corrections jointly announced the arrest of George Wright, 68, in Portugal today. Wright had escaped a state prison in 1970, seven years after he was convicted for the murder of Walter Patterson, a service station worker in Wall.
