Chris Borland, 24, of the San Francisco 49ers walks away from big money "to do what's best for my health." Studies suggest that the hard knocks of football can lead to debilitating head injuries.

Senh: Wow. Borland's thinking long term. In his brief NFL stint, he's probably made enough to last him a lifetime if he spends it wisely. It's courageous of him to make a stand, especially after most of his peers became depressed and committed suicide shortly after their retirement because of head injuries sustained during their careers. This will change football.
