Cable giant Comcast Corp., the nation's largest provider of TV and high-speed Internet services, more than doubled its net income in the third quarter, helped by fewer cancelations of video service than expected and by breaking even on the expensive-to-produce London Olympics.

Dish Network, the smaller of the nation's two satellite broadcasters, saw profit and revenue rise last quarter but lost 111,000 subscribers, citing intense competition -- including heavy discounting by rivals -- a weak housing market and lower discretionary spending by consumers.

Viacom says its net income and revenue grew in the latest quarter, handily surpassing Wall Street's expectations thanks to the strength of MTV, Comedy Central and other networks....
