History Renews 'Vikings' for Second Season

History Channel has renewed Vikings for a second season. The cable network has ordered 10 more episodes for its first scripted drama created by Michael Hirst, it was announced Friday by Dirk Hoogstra, executive vp development and programming for History. Production on season two will begin in the summer with a 2014 premiere.

And for anyone who has blocked it out, the series kicked off about 10 months after the NBC disaster that resulted in O’Brien walking away from “The Tonight Show” and Jay Leno being instilled back in the host spot.
