Three Game of Thrones actors nominated for the Emmys yesterday weren’t part of HBO’s official awards campaign. Instead, Alfie Allen, Gwendoline Christie, and Carice van Houten all submitted themselves for Emmy nominations, and got them. On Tuesday morning, Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy), Gwendoline Christie (Brienne of Tarth), and Carice van Houten (Melisandre) were nominated for Outsanding Supporting Actor, Outstanding Supporting Actress, and Outstanding Guest Actress, respectively, in the drama category. Normally a network, in this case HBO, has an awards team that submits its actors and shows to the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for nomination.
