A trio of Colorado’s best-known musical exports just nabbed Grammy nominations. This year’s Colorado-based nominees for the 62nd Grammy Awards include Boulder-based singer-songwriter Gregory Alan Isakov, Denver native India.Arie and instrumental jam-funk band Lettuce, the Recording Academy announced this morning. Indie songwriter and organic farmer Isakov, whose essentially self-released his recent album “Evening Machines” in 2018 (on the Suitcase Music Town label, via Dualtone), has been riding a wave of sold-out shows and orchestral collaborations in recent years, as well as finding his music licensed by numerous commercials and TV shows. “Evening Machines” was nominated for Best Folk Album and will compete against Andrew Bird, Che Apalche, Patty Griffin and Joy Williams’ latest releases for the golden trophy. “There’s a lot of Colorado references on this new record because I wrote a lot of it down in the (Great) Sand Dunes (National Park), off Highway 285,” Isakov told The Denver Post in 2018.
