'tombstones' Walks Fine Line Of Film Noir

For a good, straight-ahead noirish crime thriller, you could do a lot worse than "A Walk Among the Tombstones." Liam Neeson gives a nice, melancholy turn to his role as Matthew Scudder, the private eye at the center of a long-running series of novels by Lawrence Block. The opening is a set piece that handily sketches the character's background.
