Take for example multi-vitamins. Sell for £4, company offers free shipping. Assuming the vitamins cost £0.50 to make including packaging, how the hell are they shipping a reasonably large bottle that would otherwise cost approximately £2.50 to ship via royal mail? I've even seen smaller companies providing free shipping on large but cheap items.
