Union Boys, Ridgeview Girls Claim Region 2d Titles

CLINTWOOD — Bears and a pack of wolves reigned supreme at Wednesday afternoon’s Region 2D track and field championships held at Ridgeview High School. The Union boys claimed the team title with 120.5 points while home-standing Ridgeview won the girls title with 127. Gate City junior Samantha Jerrell and John Battle’s Reed Samuel were named the most outstanding performers of the meet, accumulating the most individual points for their teams. The top four finishers in each event qualify for next week’s Class 2 state meet in Elkton at East Rockingham High School. Jerrell had quite the meet, scoring 38.5 individual points.
