The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers recently released a report that suggests leaving toxic waste in the San Jacinto River might be less risky than removing it. The corps was tasked by the Environmental Protection Agency with assessing the technical feasibility of the clean-up options environmental regulators are considering for the San Jacinto Waste Pits, a federal Superfund site near Highlands.
