U.s. Unemployment Claims Jump To 386,000

The number of Americans filing new applications for unemployment benefits for the week ended June 9 rose by 6,000 from the previous week’s revised total, to 380,000, the U.S. Department of Labor reported Thursday. The four-week moving average for initial jobless claims fell by 3,500, to 378,500, according to a news release. Overall, 3,278,000, people were getting jobless benefits during the week ended June 2, a decrease of 33,000, the department said.
