Eighty people applied to be the next president of the University of Southern Maine, Jim Irwin, a trustee for the University of Maine system told the board Monday. The names of the finalists will be announced Tuesday, he said. The board of trustees is meeting in Bangor Monday. Also Monday, the trustees are scheduled to vote on whether to divest direct holdings from coal companies, which would make the UMaine system the first university system in the country to divest from fossil fuels.
