[...] Dieu is an assistant county attorney for the Harris County Attorney's Office, which among its many roles also provides counsel locally for Child Protective Services. Dieu said caring for unaccompanied children who have already crossed the border is a humanitarian concern. Because of his own experience when leaving Vietnam, he said he understands their plight. After the Vietnam War, Dieu's parents decided to split the family into groups to join the exodus from the Southeast Asian country.
