Universal is in a buying mood lately. Earlier this week the studio literally saved Dumb and Dumber To from death, and now they’ve optioned the rights to Joe Hill’s highly popular supernatural comic book series Locke & Key. The comic tells the the multi-generational stories of three siblings after the murder of their father which leads them to moving back into their ancestral home in Massachusetts which they discover has magical keys that give them special abilities even though others want to also get their hands on said keys. Star Trek Into Darkness co-writers and producers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci will produce the flick with Bobby Cohen. SOURCE: THR

This summer, the Smurfs will hit the screen once again in The Smurfs 2. Sony has released a new trailer for the live-action/animated feature. See it below. In this sequel, the evil wizard Gargamel creates a couple of mischievous Smurf-like creatures called the Naughties that he hopes will let him harness the all-powerful, magical Smurf-essence.

With a simple twist of his face, James Gandolfini turned Tony Soprano into the baddest, scariest man in 21st century television.

Personally, I found it to be entertaining. The style, the numerous gangs and the whole dystopian New York setting really felt familiar but threatening. Overall, the plot and character development was kept to a minimum which I usually hate but I didn't mind it so much for this film as too much character development would have slowed it down.
