Marc Gasol had 30 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Memphis Grizzlies to a 107-91 victory over the visiting Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday night.
Gasol was 13 of 18 from the field as six Grizzlies reached double figures.
Chris Paul had 22 points, five assists and four steals for the Clippers, who had their two-game winning streak snapped.
Gasol, who had his second straight game of at least 30 points, helped Memphis dominate the interior as the Grizzlies outrebounded the Clippers 52-32.
Memphis led by as many as 25 points in the fourth as Clippers coach Doc Rivers relied on his reserves to try and erase the deficit.
With the Grizzlies holding a double-digit lead in the third quarter, Paul did everything he could to pull the Clippers back into the game.
The All-Star point guard scored 13 points in the quarter, but Gasol continued to dominate and four Memphis starters were already in double figures entering the fourth with an 88-72 lead.
The Clippers were able to put a dent in the Memphis advantage with six straight points in the second quarter, but the Grizzlies carried a 53-40 lead into the break.
Kemba Walker missed two potential go-ahead shots in the final half-minute for the Hornets, and Al Jefferson’s tip-in try bounced off the rim as time expired as Charlotte dropped its fifth straight.
49ers rookie Carlos Hyde delivers winning score
Carlos Hyde doesn’t have a fumbler rep, but the 49ers’ rookie backup running back coughed one up on the first play of the second quarter Sunday, turning the rock over to Washington near midfield.
Running backs coach Tom Rathman told Hyde, You’re up.
On 1st-and-10 with 41/2 minutes to go, Hyde picked up five yards, to the Washington 14, on what looked like a zero-gain play.
Two plays later he slashed through a nice hole in the defense for a 4-yard touchdown that gave the 49ers the win.
Fullback Bruce Miller credited the offensive line for the hole on that play, but added, When he gets going downhill, he’s pretty tough to bring down.
Just a good job by the guys up front and a good job by Carlos getting his pads downhill.
A simple run, Hyde didn’t have a big stat day (7 rushes for 16 yards), but coach Jim Harbaugh said, I thought he was running it inspired.
