Contrary to popular belief, there is a bright side of feeling shame at work. Human emotions come in many shapes and forms. Some, like sadness and happiness, are rather easy to explain. Others, like guilt, pride, and shame, are a great deal more complex. They have in common that they are self-conscious, in that they emerge after we evaluate our own actions and make a moral assessment of our own behaviors.
