Woodlands officials gave preliminary approval Friday to a request for $600,000 to construct a U.S. Customs facility at Lone Star Executive Airport in Conroe, ending a contentious debate over whether the township should be a regional partner in the Montgomery County facility. Township members voted 3-2 during a morning budget session in favor of including the funds in their coming spending plan despite concerns expressed by a few members about whether the customs facility is needed and the lack of initial consultation by county officials.
