BY BRIANNA BAILEY, Business WriterConstruction on El Parian, an open marketplace that will feature as many as 300 booths for small retailers is underway in anchor tenant space that was formerly a Dillard’s store at Plaza Mayor at the Crossroads. The ground floor of former Dillard’s will function as a business incubator for small retailers, with the hopes that many of the businesses will grow to become full tenants of the mall and lease storefronts there, said Robert Ruiz, marketing manager for Plaza Mayor at the Crossroads. “This is a model that has worked well in other countries, and we have seen it work at other Hispanic malls as well,” Ruiz said. El Parian will feature about 60, 12-foot by 12-foot incubator booths that will be ringed around an atrium. Additional phases of construction will include salon and restaurant space, with the hope of eventually having booth space for as many as 300 small start-up businesses, he said.Read more on NewsOK.com
