By Staff reports West Virginia will receive an additional $42 million for flood relief. Releases from several federal legislators, including Sens. Joe Manchin and Shelley Moore Capito, and Rep. Evan Jenkins, announced the funding, which comes from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery Program. The historic June 2016 flood contributed to at least 24 deaths, and extreme property damage across parts of 18 counties. Today's announcement brings West Virginia's total CDBG disaster relief funding up to $149 million. The funding comes as the Trump administration is considering cutting the Community Development Block Grant Program.
