Plenty of people who don’t follow bond market news heard about the time in March when a closely watched part of the yield curve inverted. That’s because such inversions -- instances when interest rates were higher for short-term loans than longer-term debt -- are rare. They’ve also generally presaged recession, which is why the news rocked the markets for a while.
