Scott Wright Yukon high jumper Vernon Turner already had one of the highest jumps in the country by a high school athlete when he cleared 7 feet earlier this year. No one else in the country during this young track and field season had gone higher than 7-1. Until Friday. That’s when Turner broke his own state record and bested the year’s top national mark by 4 inches with a jump of 7-5 at the Claremore Zebra Invitational.
