Topics: Conditions and Diseases : Impotence

Impotence, or more properly Erectile Dysfunction (ED) is the inability to have an erection that is rigid enough or to maintain it long enough to complete sexual intercourse. Three other conditions can cause an inability to complete sexual union: Peyronie's Disease, in which scar tissue or plaque forms on the shaft of the penis causing it to bend at an acute angle. In extreme cases, this can result in an inability to penetrate even though an erection is present, and the erection can be very painful. Phimosis, a condition in uncircumcised men in which the foreskin, or prepuce, cannot be retracted from the head of the penis. This can cause painful erections and attendant impotence. Premature Ejaculation, is characterized by ejaculation either before or soon after penetration. Its causes can be either psychological or physical. This topic is dedicated to helping men and their partners become informed on what Erectile Dysfunction is, what causes it, and what can be done about it. ED IS CURABLE in almost all cases. There are many treatment options in existence, and many more are under development.
