NORTON — It’s crowded at the top. Peyton Carter hit two free throws with 1:17 left to play to lift Abingdon to a 57-55 Mountain 7 District girls basketball win over Wise Central Tuesday. The victory, coupled with Ridgeview’s win over Lee High on Tuesday, created a three-way tie in the loss column for the district lead. Central (11-4, 5-1) leads Abingdon (9-5, 4-1) and Ridgeview (11-3, 4-1) by a game in the win column. CLOSE ALL THE WAY The Lady Warriors and Lady Falcons battled throughout Tuesday, neither team gaining more than an eight-point advantage. Abingdon led 26-18 with 1:33 left to play in the second quarter before Central used an 8-2 run over the final minute to pull to within two, 28-26, at halftime.
