When the founders of California’s Shelter Distilling began searching for a place to build a new location, they had a few prerequisites. The spot needed to be large enough to house a brand new production facility for making spirits and beer, it needed to be accessible enough to launch regional distribution, and, perhaps most importantly, it needed to have ample access to the outdoors.
That may not sound like a long list, but according to Matt Hammer, it was a seemingly impossible combination to fulfill even as he and fellow co-founders Jason Senior and Karl Anderson conducted a nationwide search.

Groceries and gasoline in metro Denver are slightly cheaper in May compared to a year earlier, but eating out has become more expensive and rising housing costs are keeping inflation above the target the Federal Reserve wants to see, according to the latest Consumer Price Index from the U. S.
Three years after requiring retailers to charge for disposable bags, Denver has collected $5.76 million, although the growth rate of that number is expected to taper off.
The city said it has spent nearly $1 million of that, and a survey underway will help direct where the remainder of the money goes.
Denver started requiring retailers to charge 10 cents per disposable bag in July 2021.
As owners of the Tattered Cover weighed offers from prospective buyers to bail the beloved bookstore out of bankruptcy, they celebrated a big order they believe shows the brand is still strong.
The board of Bended Page, an investment group that bought the bookstore in 2020, was meeting this week to consider bids from people interested in buying the 52-year-old Denver bookstore chain, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in late 2023.
Board members had scheduled an auction for Wednesday, but canceled it to continue discussions with the bidders, Bended Page said in a statement.

Sony Pictures Entertainment is getting into the exhibition business. On June 28, the 9-year-old beer maker will welcome patrons to its new bar, located at the site of its production facility at 9990 E. Colfax Ave. in Aurora. There they’ll find 40 draft taps serving an array of Cerebral’s sought-after IPAs and barrel-aged specialties, as well as non-alcoholic options like hop water and NA beer.
