Beverly Hills buyout firm to acquire San Diego Union-Tribune

La Jolla-based Copley Press Inc. is selling its flagship paper for an undisclosed sum. Platinum Equity expects to complete the purchase during the second quarter. Owners of the San Diego Union-Tribune, one of the largest daily newspapers in California, said today that the publication would be sold to a Beverly Hills private equity firm.
