Hasan Mayyahi is smiling again, because soccer is part of his life again. The Fort Vancouver boys soccer team is Mayyahi’s first organized team since he left his home country of Iraq at age 11. Mayyahi, now 18, went six years without soccer and no education while living in Turkey. He came to Vancouver with his parents and three siblings in 2015. The high school junior recently got a permanent reminder of what the game means to him.
