BROOKFIELD - Selectmen Tuesday opened the annual town meeting warrant and set April 29 as the deadline to submit articles for consideration and to close the warrant. The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. June 6 at Brookfield Elementary School.

Lopez sent a one-out grounder up the middle off Jorge López (1-1) through a drawn-in infield to score automatic runner Christian Bethancourt from third base, and the last-place Marlins (15-32) stretched their winning streak to a season-best four games.

One dead after car crashes into light pole in Cooper City

One person died after a vehicle struck a light pole in Cooper City late Saturday morning, officials say. The car struck a light pole in the 11800 block of Griffin Road a little after 11 a.m., according to Broward Sheriff’s Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Michael Kane. One person died at the scene, and no one else was transported. Two cars appeared to be severely damaged at the scene Saturday afternoon while Broward Sheriff’s deputies investigated. It is unclear what caused the crash and what happened to the other car and its occupants.
