The street, built exactly 100 feet wide in 1913 to allow a team of horses to turn around, will rumble with several hundred cattle hooves for the Western Stampede Cattle Drive — one of just a few in the country. Afterward, visitors can stick around for three days of calf roping and barrel racing at the fairgrounds, a few blocks away. Los Angeles expands its annual All-Star Chef Classic, featuring more than 25 of the world’s best chefs, including San Francisco’s Dominique Crenn (Atelier Crenn) and Daniel Patterson (Coi); Nancy Silverton (Mozza) and Suzanne Goin (Lucques) of Los Angeles; Inaki Aizpitarte (Le Chateaubriand) from Paris; and Christina Tosi (Momofuku Milk Bar) of New York. The heart of the event is a series of Masters Dinners highlighting American, French and British cuisine. Bouverie Preserve will hold an open house for visitors new to its 535-acre wildlife sanctuary in Glen Ellen. Using guided hikes, education center exhibits and nature activities such as dissecting an owl pellet, Audubon staff and volunteers will unveil the varied hill, woodland, evergreen and riparian habitats that harbor 400 species of plants and animals.
