Chatham County Commission Chairman Al Scott on Friday said he is prepared to place a vote before commissioners to end the Savannah-Chatham police department merger agreement if the county manager is not allowed to give his consent in the appointment of a new police chief. Scott told commissioners before Friday’s board meeting that he believes the city has violated several terms of the agreement, including the exclusion of the county from negotiations of the police chief’s salary and the formation of the police chief search process. On Tuesday, the joint police policy committee is scheduled to meet and Scott says he plans to raise his concerns.
