CHURCH HILL – Cherokee had beaten Volunteer 63-53 at home earlier in the year, but Friday’s game in the Falcons Nest before a packed house looked more like what a rivalry game should be. The Chiefs had to go to overtime this time to turn back the Falcons 75-72, thanks in a huge part to junior Ryan Bledsoe who tossed in 43 points. Cherokee coach Tyler Webb said that is the way a rivalry game should be after seeing his team come out on top at their opponents’ court. “Volunteer made a lot of good runs at us but our kids just hung tough and it was a fun game,” said the first-year head coach.
