GORDON, KY - Una Lewis Warfield, age 95, formerly of Pine Mountain, KY, went to be with the Lord on 8/6/2019 in Kingsport, Tennessee.
The family will receive friends from 5pm to 6pm on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home downtown, Kingsport. A funeral service will follow with a representative from Indian Springs Baptist Church (Glenwood Campus) officiating.
A graveside service will be held at 11am on Thursday, August 15, 2019 at the Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery, Loyall, Kentucky. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50am.

ROGERSVILLE - Lauveda Agnes Goodson, age 87 of Rogersville, passed away, Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Greeneville Community Hospital East.
Visitation hours will be 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at Broome Funeral Home, Rogersville.
Funeral service will be conducted 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, August 14, 2019 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jerry Johnson officiating. Graveside service will be 11:00 A.M., Thursday, August 15, 2019 at Butchers Valley Cemetery.

BLACKWATER, VA - Edna Bloomer Bledsoe, 90, of Blackwater, VA, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday afternoon, August 10,2019 at NHC Kingsport.
The family will receive friends from 11 until 1:00 pm on Wednesday, August 14, at Burke’s Union Primitive Baptist Church in Blackwater, VA. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm with Elders Virgil Lipe, Roger Trent, and Scott Tipton officiating. Music will be provided by church family. Burial will follow in the family cemetery.

KINGSPORT - Sandra "Sam" Elizabeth Kennedy Quinn, 72, of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, August 8, 2019.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm – 6:45 pm Tuesday, August 13, 2019, at Fordtown Baptist Church, 444 Old Fordtown Rd., Kingsport, TN.
A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 7:00 pm with Pastor Keith Smith officiating.
A Graveside Service will be at 11:00 am Wednesday, August 14, 2019, at East Tennessee Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 am.

 

Margie Nell Hayes Gurley Wankel

Margie Nell Hayes Gurley Wankel passed away on Friday, August 9th, 2019 surrounded by her family at her home due to complications of a stroke. She was born on September 10th, 1929, in Bristol, Tennessee.
Her “Coming Home Celebration” will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at 2:00pm at Central Holston Christian Church with Minister Bob Robinson officiating followed by graveside service at Glenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, August 12th from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Weaver Funeral Home.

 

Dungannon residents angered by unexpected tap fee

GATE CITY — A handful of Dungannon residents have threatened to sue the Scott County Public Service Authority over a recent waterline extension project along Hanging Rock Parkway.
The issue was discussed during Wednesday’s meeting of the Scott County Board of Supervisors. The waterline extension was intended to serve residents at about nine homes, but now some of them are pulling out due to a $1,500 tap fee that they didn’t realize they would have to pay.

Sharon Lee Bacchus

GRAY - Sharon Lee Bacchus, of Gray, Tenn., passed away on Monday, August 12, 2019, at her home.
She was born in Charleston, W.Va. on September 25, 1940, to the late Robert and Eleanor Davis Mellot. She also lived in Roanoke, Abingdon and Gate City Va.  Sharon worked several years in the General District Court in Abingdon. She was a member of Smith Chapel United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Kimberly Lynn Bacchus.
