BY ERIECH TAPIA For The OklahomanHigh school students from across Oklahoma tackled topics ranging from education to social matters at the annual Youth and Government conference, hoping to one day become leaders. “I never knew I loved politics so much until I started in this program,” said Stillwater senior Grace Hunziker, the mock governor in the Youth and Government program. The 67th annual conference attracted more than 330 students to participate in mock legislative, judicial and executive programs, as well as broadcast and print media activities. “They are passionate about making Oklahoma better and their schools better,” said Whitney Chandler, director of the Youth and Government Conference, a division of the YMCA.
