Federal lawsuit upheld for man wrongly convicted of Albany murder

ALBANY — A federal judge has upheld a lawsuit filed by a man who was wrongly convicted of murdering a college student after signing a confession that was allegedly coerced by Albany detectives.In a decision that puts the case on track for trial, U.S. District Judge David N. Hurd rejected arguments to dismiss the suit that were filed by attorneys for the city of Albany and six former detectives who took part in the investigation that wrongly sent two men to prison for the 1997 murder.
