Two-day closure set for rest area

The Brothers Safety Rest Area on U. S. Highway 20 will be temporarily closed Wednesday through Friday as part of an ongoing rest area rehabilitation project.Contractors will be connecting new water and electrical services and razing the old structure during this time, according to the Oregon Department of Transportation.

Group seeks foster grandparents

The Central Oregon Council on Aging is looking for residents of Crook, Deschutes, Jefferson and Wasco counties who are 55 or older and interested in taking part in its foster grandparent program, which provides one-on-one mentoring and tutoring services to students in danger of failing in their studies or their citizenship.

 

Redmond Airport says boardings up

Passenger boardings at Redmond Airport increased nearly 12 percent last month compared to October 2012, according to statistics recently released by the airport.It was the second straight month boardings jumped more than 10 percent.
