Thanks to a state grant, the Macomb County Public Works Office will conduct an inspection of the Lake Boulevard storm drain in St. Clair Shores.The grant -- for Stormwater, Asset management and Wastewater (SAW) projects -- will cover about $430,000 of the cost of the project, with the county public works office covering $43,000.

Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel has appointed Utica Community Schools Board of Education President Gene Klida to a countywide arts leadership position.Hackel appointed Klida to a three-year term on the Macomb Art Institute Authority. Her appointment, which was confirmed by the Macomb County Board of Commissioners, represents the Macomb Intermediate School District, one of three designated areas of membership composition.

Macomb Community College received several honors at the recent annual convention of Phi Theta Kappa, the world's largest honor society for two-year college students. The college's Phi Theta Kappa chapter, Beta Lambda Kappa, recognizes students for their academic achievements and leadership skills.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services has confirmed a second case of measles in Michigan for 2018. According to MDHHS, the case is unrelated to Michigan's first case, which occurred in March. Both cases were a result of exposure outside the country.
