'The Demo’ opens at Bing Concert Hall Composer Mikel Rouse, performer Ben Neill and director Bob McGrath unveil a world premiere music theater piece reflecting on Douglas Engelhart’s watershed 1968 demonstration of the fundamentals of personal computing. Bing Concert Hall, Stanford University. TheatreWorks Silicon Valley performs Randal Myler and Dan Wheetman’s bluegrass musical about life in Appalachia, based on interviews with coal miners and their families. Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts, 500 Castro St., Mountain View. Playwright-director John Kolvenbach (“Goldfish”) directs the West Coast premiere of his latest drama, a tale of a devoted sibling who’ll do anything for her sister, including protecting her from her relationships.
