It was shortly after Oregon’s stay-at-home order went into effect that I learned how massive the technology shortage is in our state. The pandemic brought to light the growing gap in technology access (or digital divide) and the stark consequences. Students were being asked to move their learning online, and yet more than 75,000 students across the state of Oregon were without a device at home, according to a memo from the Oregon Department of Education and the 2020 Oregon Broadband Survey.
