GATE CITY — An 11-run explosion in the bottom of the third inning propelled Gate City’s softball team to a quick victory in its Mountain 7 District opener, a 15-0 win over Lee on Tuesday. The Lady Blue Devils (3-0, 1-0) pounded out 15 hits in the five-inning game. Sarah Thompson went 3-for-4 — all doubles — and drove in five runs to set the offensive pace.
